# Lemon Squeezy, counted as revenue rather than as turnover

They are a Merchant of Record, so the sales tax was never yours. Income is booked from the order subtotal, never the total.

#### The tax on that order is not your income and never was

Booking the total as revenue inflates your year by the VAT they remit.

- Income is booked from the order subtotal, so the tax they collect never appears as money you earned.
- The day is always re-read in full rather than topped up, so a rollup never holds half a day.
- Refunds subtract from the day they belong to.

#### Their platform fee is not in the data, so it is not in your book

They do not expose their cut per order, and we do not estimate it.

- Fees stay at zero on this connection rather than carrying an estimate that would look like a fact.
- The amount that actually reached you shows on the bank side, where it is a real payment with a real figure.
- The Lemon Squeezy account holds nothing: they publish no balance and no payouts, so nothing here pretends to know what is still with them.

#### Made in your account, checked before it is stored

Settings, then API, then create a key.

- The key is tried against Lemon Squeezy first, so a dead key never reaches the database.
- Encrypted at rest, and never returned by our API again.
- Revoking it in their settings is enough to cut us off, without asking us anything.
