# Monthly limits: that warn before the line

Plan the month's spending by category or supplier. A budget here stops nothing; what may be spent by itself lives in the mandate.

## How it works

- **A category or a supplier.** Cap a category, or one supplier whatever category its rows land in, so a usage bill gets a line of its own. Weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly or just once.
- **Warns before the line.** Each budget names the day it would run out at this pace and warns the people you chose once, at the share you set. Card spend and statement rows count the moment they land.
- **Who spent it.** Open a budget and its spend breaks down by person. What is left of a monthly budget can roll into the next month.
- **Not the mandate.** A budget here plans the month and stops nothing. The budget a position or an agent may spend by itself lives in the mandate, and past it a payment waits for a signature.

## Questions

**Does a budget block a payment?** No. It warns before the line and turns red once it is over. What holds a payment is the mandate: past a position's budget it waits for whoever issued it.

**Who gets the warning?** The people you choose, once per threshold, in the figures of the budgets page. A member who cannot see an account is warned in their own figures, without it.
