# The month handed over: as files their system imports

URL: https://www.orla.finance/en/product/month/accountant
Markdown twin of that page. Append `.md` to any Orla page URL to get one.

Your accountant gets a seat of their own: they close the month and sign nothing.

## How it works

- **A checklist before the close.** Ten checks with a counter, each with a door into its list. A row without a category, a missing code, a payment waiting for signatures or an account off its statement blocks the close.
- **Codes from your chart.** Every category and account gets the code it books to in your accountant's system, entered once and reused. Orla never guesses a code.
- **Files, not a login.** A double entry journal and each account's feed in the shape Xero and QuickBooks Online import, plus one archive. There is nothing to connect: the handover is a file.
- **Closed means locked.** A closed month is read-only for people and the assistant. Only an owner or an admin reopens it, with a reason. A late bank sync shows as changed after close.

## Questions

**Can the accountant move money?** No. The Accountant seat reads the books, sorts the paper and closes the month. It signs nothing and pays nothing.

**What if a row changes after the handover?** The page shows how many rows were added, edited or removed since the files went out. Ask the assistant and it says whether the package needs sending again.
