# The month prepared: before your accountant opens it

Rows filed, receipts matched and the bank checked every day, so the month closes on its own record. Your accountant starts from a closed month.

## How it works

- **Every row gets a category.** Your rules file what they recognise, and the Bookkeeper proposes a category for the rest, grouped by merchant. A person presses, and a rule makes the question go away next time.
- **A receipt on every payment.** A receipt forwarded by mail lands on its payment, and each paper is filed by the scheme you wrote in words. An expense with no paper is asked of whoever paid, with reminders on the third and seventh morning.
- **Bank against book, daily.** What each provider says the balance did is checked against what the rows explain. A day that does not add up is listed with its difference and told to owners and admins, and nothing is changed for you.
- **Closed, then handed over.** A month closes once every row has a category, every category a code and every account matches its statement, and it says so if a late sync moves it. Your accountant gets the journal for Xero or QuickBooks and the paper archive.

## Questions

**What is left for our accountant?** The official reporting and the tax returns. Orla files nothing with any tax authority: it hands over a month that is filed, papered, reconciled and closed.

**Which plan does this need?** The month's checklist is readable on every plan, so a month can be prepared all year. Closing a month and the journal export come with Pro and above.
