# Every tax on its day: with its source beside it

Markdown twin of that page. Append `.md` to any Orla page URL to get one.

Taxes are planned ahead of anything that can move. Orla never files a return and never guesses a rate.

## How it works

- **From its source.** A tax arrives from your payroll system, your accountant or a document you add, with its kind, amount and day. The source counts it. Orla plans it ahead of anything that can move and pays it under the mandate.
- **VAT by period.** Output tax from your invoices, input tax from your expenses, and a bill you mark as reverse charge, at the rate you give. Each period gives a one page PDF and a CSV of the rows behind it.
- **The year in four steps.** What is not ready, whether it reconciles, the figures and the seal. A sealed year says if anything inside it moves later.
- **Crypto at cost.** Cost basis by FIFO, LIFO or HIFO through every swap, with realised gains on their own line. Your accountant's journal gets the same figure.

## Questions

**Does Orla file our returns?** No. It never files with a tax authority and never picks a rate or a regime. It prepares the figures and the files. Its figures are informational, not tax advice: your accountant checks them and files.

**Can it say what the open VAT period will owe?** Yes, as two figures: what has accrued so far and where the period's pace leads by its last day. Under two weeks into a period it gives no estimate.
