# Open a document: and hand it to a colleague

A file opens beside the list and goes to a colleague in one press. Nobody outside the space can open it by link.

## How it works

- **Opens beside the list.** A tile or a row opens the file in a panel, with its type, folder and counterparty edited in place. The address carries the file, so the link can be copied.
- **By name, email or link.** Share with a member by name or invite someone by email. A link opens for members of this space only and puts the file on their Shared with me shelf.
- **One link, kept.** Asking for the link again never makes a new one, so a link already sent keeps working. Revoking it takes back every access it gave.
- **Everyone sees their own.** Each person sees their own uploads and the files shared with them, whatever their role. A viewer can open and download what was shared.

## Questions

**Can someone outside the company open a link I forward?** No. The link opens for members of this space only. Anyone else is told to ask for the file by email and gets nothing.

**Does attaching a file to a payment show it to the team?** Yes. A private file becomes visible to the whole space once it is attached to a payment, and the panel says so before you press.
