Why a number moved
in steps, not a story
Each card on Home says how far its figure moved. Why? answers with arithmetic: the steps from the earlier figure to this one.

The cards say the movement first. Under them, why spending went up: September's figure and four steps by category to October's total in the tile.
How it works
Why a number moved
in four lines
- The movement first
- Cash says how much it moved since a month ago. Owed says how much is already late and how much falls due this week, before you open anything.
- Why? asks for you
- The link opens the conversation with the question already sent. The answer is a card of steps, and its words quote those steps.
- Split where it moved
- A month against the one before splits by category. Runway splits into the balance and the burn, and burn names the month that left its three-month window.
- The report's own figures
- The steps read the same rows the report screens draw. Point at a step to see its exact amount and the running total after it.
Questions
Why a number moved
the short answers
Is the answer the assistant's guess?
No. Each step is computed from your rows, and the assistant only puts the steps into words. A currency without a rate is said once under the card, never guessed.
Do two people get the same steps?
Only if they see the same accounts. The steps count what the asker may see, so an account hidden from you never moves your figure.
