Orla vs CoinTracker

One counts last year's crypto for the tax office. The other runs all your money, crypto included, every day of the year.

Fair is fair

When CoinTracker is the right choice

A comparison you can trust has to be able to say this.

  • You need last year's official forms, filled and filed, and nothing else.
  • Your filing runs through TurboTax and you want the direct handoff.
  • Crypto is an investment you check monthly, not money you live on.

Where Orla is different

Crypto that behaves like money, not a portfolio

A tracker shows what coins are worth. A book shows where your money went.

  • Getting paid in USDC lands as income, budgeted next to the rent.
  • The tax view updates all year, not in a January reconstruction.
  • Fiat and crypto in one net worth, one report, one export.

Questions

The questions the table does not answer

What is the difference between Orla and CoinTracker?

One counts last year's crypto for the tax office; the other runs all your money, crypto included, every day of the year. A tracker shows what coins are worth. A book shows where the money went, with the bank in the same list.

When is CoinTracker the better choice?

When crypto is the only thing you need counted, when you want a filing ready report for one tax year and nothing else, and when the wallets and exchanges you use are on their list and not yet on ours.

Does Orla do capital gains by lot?

Yes. FIFO by lot in your base currency, with the short and long term split, and the basis carried through swaps, bridges and transfers between your own accounts. It is informational and never a calculation of what you owe.
