Carriers settled every Friday.
Shippers chased on Net 30

Tamarack Freight runs loads for three shippers with two trucks of its own and six owner-operators, a dispatcher, an office manager and an outside accountant.

Payments: week 45's carrier settlement waiting for the owner's signature, one payout in it held because the carrier's bank account is new.

Carriers settled on Friday, on the account they gave you

A bank account that changed by email waits for a phone call, and the week goes out as one batch, signed once.

Brightwater Foods always pays about twelve days late, Copperline has always paid on the day and is now five days late, Lakeshore is not due yet. Who needs a call this week, and who is just being Brightwater?

The signing queue, the calendar and the forecast as one order: which of the nine fit this week and which two are marked move, with the day money is next expected.
Who is overdue, and what next

Connections

Your bank pays,
email brings the bills

Carriers are paid from your own Mercury or Airwallex, the bank feed reads every account, supplier bills come by mail to the space's own address, and the month leaves for QuickBooks or Xero.

Who does what

Four people,
six carriers, three shippers

  • OwnerSigns Friday's settlement, confirms a carrier's new bank account by phone, and reads the margin per shipper.
  • Office managerPrepares the settlement, sends the invoices on terms, pays the fuel and tire bills, and closes the month.
  • DispatcherHands the office each carrier's load numbers for Friday's payout lines, and never sees the accounts or signs.
  • AccountantGets the month with every row under its shipper, and reads the closed period without changing it.

Control and trust

Nobody changes where a carrier is paid by sending an email

New details wait
A carrier paid before, on an account never used, is held until a second person confirms it by phone.
Prepared by one, signed by another
Friday's settlement is over the threshold, so it waits for a signature, and never from the person who prepared it.
You sign the mandate
The threshold, the number of signatures and who may sign are rules you set once; every payout is checked against them, and one outside them waits for a person.
Paper first
A bill becomes a payment only from its document, and a second copy of it is caught before it is paid.

Getting started

Your first hour,
in three steps

Start free with an email: no card, no time limit, nothing to install.

  1. A space for the companySign up, and the company gets a space of its own, apart from anything personal. The free plan includes one business space.
  2. One account, and the first rowsConnect one bank, exchange or platform, or drop in a statement in any language. The first rows land in minutes, each with its category.
  3. One real billDrop in a supplier bill's PDF, and watch it become a bill to pay with its supplier, amount and due date.

All it takes: an email and one bill.

Questions

The questions that come first

Can carriers be paid without a seat in Orla?

Yes. A carrier is a contact with a bank account on file, not a seat. They can type that account themselves on a link you send, and the settlement pays every carrier on the account they carry.

What happens when a carrier says their bank account changed?

Their next payment waits, even with every signature on it, until someone other than the person who proposed it confirms the new details. Call the carrier on a number you already had, not the one in the email, then press Confirm new details.

Do our shippers pay through Orla?

They pay as they do now: by transfer, or by card through your own Stripe on the invoice's pay link. The invoice marks itself paid when the money lands in the book, and the late list counts from the due date your terms set.

Does it work for a distributor rather than a carrier?

The same screens do: suppliers' bills read off their paper and checked before they are paid, customers invoiced on terms and chased by how they pay, and margin per customer from the rows.
